Details of Experience:

Beverly N was admitted to Westchester Medical Center due to pain in her right shoulder. She began as an outpatient receiving physical therapy for her regular exercises. While she was stretching, she felt pain, but didn’t put too much thought into it. When she returned home, her pain continued. The following day, she went straight to her doctor to have her shoulder checked out. They gave her the news that it was dislocated and that it would require surgery. Post surgery, Beverly required rehabilitation and was introduced to our community, and was transferred from the hospital to CHC for inpatient therapy.

Upon arrival, she was greeted by our amazing receptionist, who made sure she had a warm welcome. She was then greeted by the Concierge, our Rehab team, and Nursing team. The Concierge assisted her with all her needs and made sure she had everything to start her rehabilitation stay at Cortlandt, including our menu options, activities that recreation provided.

Beverly was evaluated by our Rehab team and received short and long-term goals to be accomplished during her rehab journey. Her goals were increased ambulation, upper and lower body dressing, being able to transfer herself from the bed to the chair, and being able to transfer herself to the toilet. She wasn’t able to put weight on her shoulder, so she worked slowly but surely.

She required surgery once again, but once she had the clearance to be able to restart physical therapy, she began working towards her goals once again. She absolutely exceeded our expectations. Her family will always visit her and always motivate her to keep up the amazing work.

Beverly has achieved her goals through her amazing work in physical therapy and occupational therapy. She has reached all her prior levels of function. With all her hard work, she was able to be discharged home with her friends and family.

On behalf of Cortlandt Healthcare, we wish her nothing but the best and hope to see her again in the future.
